The number of new home sales in WA has slumped to its lowest level in six months, new figures show.
It has prompted a lobby group to call on the state government to support more housing construction.
The Housing Industry Association’s new home sales report, a survey of major residential builders, shows 1193 houses were purchased in April, an 8.2 per cent drop on the previous month.
It was the lowest monthly figure since October, when 1138 homes were sold.
The number of sales was also down 2 per cent on the same quarter last year.
